Hello!

My name is Austin Dixon. I am a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) and licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) living in Durham, NC and practicing in the Triangle. Before moving to Durham my partner and I lived in New York City where I attended Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and received my DACM (Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine) and MSTOM (Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine). After graduation I spent a few years working at City Acupuncture of NY, a high volume/low cost clinic in the heart of the financial district. While in school I held an internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in the HIV clinic and at the NYU Center for Joint Disease. I also spent time in China where I observed clinics in the Beijing hospitals through a program at Beijing University of TCM.

I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I earned my BFA in Dance and was inspired to move to New York City. While living in NYC I became a certified to teach Kundalini Yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan). Though I no longer teach Kundalini, I often use my Kundalini training when offering patients ideas on meditation.

I believe that everyone should have access to health care and the opportunity to heal in a safe, supportive place. I split my work week between working in research at Duke University Hospital and Practice Space. I enjoy working with mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and stress, as well as issues to the digestive system, gynecological system, and immune support. Everyone I treat will have an individually tailored treatment plan that may include finding creative ways to reduce negative stress and optimize general wellbeing. Every person is different so every treatment plan will differ depending on the needs and goals of the individual. It is important to me that people feel ownership and empowerment with their healing process.

Peace, austin
